Hot-swap mechanism
A hot swap switch on the bottom of the SPM is activated by the lower ejector latch. It can be
used to request to the system that the SPM be removed.
LEDs
There are four LEDs on the SPM face plate.
These LEDs are located in the same vertical locations as the corresponding LEDs on the front
modules per the ATCA specification.
Event inputs
There are four general-purpose inputs supported through an 8-pin 2.5 mm Phoenix ‘Micro
Combicon’ header on the SPM’s face plate. The SPM provides both the header and the mating
terminal block.

Note
The SCM LED activity differs from the SPM LED activity. The SCM requires three states to properly negotiate
redundant modules: Active (on), Standby (off), and Pending (blinking). The SPM requires only two states:
Active (on) and Standby (off).

GPIN 1
GPIN 2
GPIN 3
Each of these inputs is optically isolated and provides up to 1500 volts of isolation. Each
input can be switched in a range between 3.3 and 72 volts. These inputs provide reverse
polarity protection for the optical isolator.
See Table 7, “Event input header contact functions,” on page 23 for the pinout of the
header.
