10/100/1000 Ethernet interfaces
Two 10/100/1000 Ethernet connections are routed from the 3x32 DIN shelf connector to the
daughter card connector. For information on the Ethernet connections, see Ethernet
interfaces on page 18.
Power
Three pins connect the SPM to two 12-volt inputs provided from the backplane:
The longer pin connects to digital ground.
The shorter pins connect to the 12-volt power inputs.
This arrangement establishes a connection to digital ground first when the SPM is inserted, and
breaks it last when the SPM is removed in hot swapping. Similarly, the two shorter pins contact
before the pins in the 3x32 shelf connector when the SPM is inserted and remain connected
after the pins in the 3x32 shelf connector disconnect when the SPM is removed.
The SPM accepts two +12-volt source rails from the system backplane and diode-ORs the two
rails into one +12-volt supply.
A voltage converter supplies +3.3 V from the +12 V input. The regulator has a current rating of
1.5 Amps.
A second regulator supplies +2.5 V from the +3.3 V. The regulator has a current rating of 400
mAmps.
The maximum power does not account for a Shelf Manager daughter card. Also, additional
power could be dissipated by a PIM installed on the ATCA-5000, but that power is supplied
from the front module.
