On the ATCA-5000, the following signals to Jn4 are routed as 100-Ohm differential pairs from
the Zone 3 connector to the PIM Jn4 connector.
On the ATCA-5000, the following signals to Jn4 are routed as 10-mil traces between the Zone
3 connector and the PIM Jn4 connector (to lower the impedance, in case they are used for
ground connections).
PIM sites may draw power. All of the power for the PIM comes from the front module. The front
module determines the PIM maximum loads.
Shelf Manager interface
The SPM provides an interface to an intelligent daughter card that can be used to implement a
shelf manager as defined by the ATCA specification. A single 2x32 pin connector is provided for
this purpose, along with two mounting holes for standoffs in addition to those provided for the
PIM.
The PIM bracket opening can be used for external connections to the daughter card, if required.
The maximum power drawn by the daughter card must not exceed 15 watts.
Note that support of the PIM and the shelf manager daughter card are mutually exclusive,
because they occupy the same space.
